The ranking, in short
Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura opened Maido in October 2009, on the corner of San Martín and Colón in Miraflores. It first entered the World's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2015 at #44, climbed through the top ten (#8 in 2017, #6 in 2023, #5 in 2024), and in 2025 it was named #1, The World's Best Restaurant.
A #1 restaurant leaves the yearly list after winning and moves to the "Best of the Best" group, so from 2026 you won't see Maido ranked again.
Experiencia Maido
There's one menu, the Experiencia Maido, in twelve steps. It's nikkei cooking: Japanese technique and Peruvian ingredients, the cuisine that grew out of Japanese immigration to Peru. The dining room seats 52.
